Origin and quality
We import oak beams directly from the sawmill. A close cooperation with a number of reliable suppliers guarantees the selection of the best quality timber, so that we can be sure that our customers receive only top quality oak beams.
Oak has traditionally been valued by craftsmen for a number of good properties: it is hard - thus also durable - and strong, yet can be worked fairly easily. Hoogenhoff's oak beams are incorporated into numerous durable structures, creating or maintaining a warm characteristic atmosphere.
Durability class
The durability of a wood species is determined by assigning it a grade from 1 to 5, with grade 1 representing "very durable" and grade 5 representing "not durable. The indicative life span of a wood species indicated by this rating represents "the resistance of the heartwood of wood species to adverse conditions.
Oak beams have durability class 2:
"Durable," with an indicative lifespan of 15 to 25 years.
Oak beam properties
Oak is recognizable by its beautiful markings and warm color. Because oak is by far the most durable compared to other European wood species, these oak beams are suitable for an endless range of applications. Think of the construction of farms, carports, horse stables, outbuildings, garden sheds and the like, as well as outdoor kitchens. In addition, oak beams are frequently used in restorations.
